Pant hit 14 fours and a six as he slammed 76 off 87 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara, meanwhile, was dismissed for a duck by Mohammed Shami. India had earlier declared on their overnight score of 246/8 at stumps on Day 1.

On Day 1, India's top order couldn't fire and the big guns Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed for 25 and 33 respectively. However, Bharat's half-century and some solid resistance from the lower order helped India recover from 82/5 to 246/8. Notably, Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna are representing the Leicestershire County Club team in the warm-up game.
